Kampen om Wøyengutta

The year is 1950. Wøyen boys´ home is in new economic conflicts after the Germans demolished it during World War II, and is now depending on financial means to continue operating. When the young journalist Johannes meets the young Miss Solveig, an «aunt» at Wøyen boys’ home, he not only finds love, but also stumbles upon a story from the 30s that turns out to be far more complicated than he first thought. Johannes begins digging into director Hermanrud and the founder Pastor Severus’s story, revolving around an intense power struggle that lasted for almost 20 years, and dealt with financial adultery, foul play, false accusations, arrests, corruption and Nazis. Through glimpses and scenes from everyday life at Wøyen boys home, we get to know several of the boys, we witness Johannes’ work as he uncovers the old case, and we see what fate has in store for them all. The stakes are at an all time high. If the article comes out, the home lose their funding, the staff lose their jobs, and the boys lose their home, and are stripped of hope once again. What right does one have to publish a story when it can have fatal consequences?

The performance will be played at Wøyen Farm from 15 to 24 August.
