Skit eller kanel

In October, Jon Erik, along with Richard Olsen, visited the Nynorsk Cultural Center, Ivar Aasen-tunet, in Ørsta. Here, they performed the play Skit eller kanel (Knowing chalk from cheese) through the Cultural Rucksack for secondary schools in the area.

Skit eller kanel is a theater production for middle school students that explores journalism, media literacy, and source criticism. The goal is to share knowledge and create awareness and engagement around these topics. In the performance, students are taken into a universe where the consequences of misinformation unfold. In our digital age, where anyone can write anything on the internet and false news and information are intentionally planted and spread, awareness and knowledge of source criticism are more crucial than ever. Through the play, structured as a lecture, we aim to show young people the consequences of spreading inaccurate or misleading information, the power dynamics and tactics behind the motive to misinform – but also that there are gray areas and different realities.
