The “More Nynorsk in DKS” initiative is a collaborative effort across several counties and organizations, with a common goal of increasing the number of quality Nynorsk (New Norwegian) productions in the Cultural Rucksack (Den kulturelle skolesekken). The initiative took shape in 2021 when seven selected productions had the opportunity to further develop content and Nynorsk communication during an artist residency at Seanse – Center for Art Production in Volda.
On Thursday, April 28, Kulturtanken hosted a network gathering and conference focusing on the role of the Nynorsk language in the Cultural Rucksack, specifically, and in art and cultural communication for children and youth more generally. The conference took place at the premises of Kulturtanken and Riksteatret, organized by Kulturtanken in collaboration with Nynorsksenteret and the three county municipalities of Møre og Romsdal, Vestfold and Telemark, and Vestland.
Together with Richard Olsen, Jon Erik presented an excerpt from the production “Skit eller kanel” (Knowing chalk from cheese), produced by Nynorsk Kultursentrum.
