ARR

ARR (SCARRED) tells the story of a boy alone against the world. At least he feels that’s how it is. The boy is different, and knows it well. He has been told this for as long as he can remember by his bullies. The relentless bullying has left physical imprints, serving as a brutal reminder of his divergence. Nevertheless, he would rather continue to be as he is. Different.

In this latest endeavor, Jon Erik collaborates with Stine Sandnes, known for her work on projects like MannemonologeneKvinnemonologoene, and Flyktningmonologene, to craft a compelling new stage narrative.

The performance captures a poignant encounter between two individuals at a juncture in life where the need for an anchor becomes paramount. It explores the concept of providing support and being a source of strength during life’s tempests. Yet, it also raises the crucial questions: How enduring can one be in the storms of others, and what sacrifices are one willing to make when someone truly depends on them?

ARR was awarded an artist residency at Seanse in Volda this spring. Stine carried out the residency as Jon Erik had to cancel due to illness. During the residency, the project and the stage text received support and feedback from both Seanse and other participants.
